Rockies-Cardinals opener rained out in the third inning; St. Louis led 5-1 on Pujols HR (AP)
The opener between the Colorado Rockies and St. Louis was postponed by rain Monday in the third inning with the Cardinals leading 5-1 on a home run by Albert Pujols. The game was rescheduled for Tuesday night, which had been an off-day for the teams.

Career minor leaguer Rico Washington hits home run, secures roster spot with Cardinals (AP)
Rico Washington celebrated making the St. Louis Cardinals opening-day roster by hitting a home run in the Cardinals’ 10-3 loss to Double-A Springfield on Saturday. Washington, who played for Springfield and Triple-A Memphis last year, was told before the game by manager Tony La Russa that he’d made the team.
