The St. Louis Cardinals claimed reliever Todd Wellemeyer off waivers from the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, and plan to add him to their roster this weekend. Wellemeyer, a 28-year-old right-hander, was 0-1 with a 10.34 ERA in 12 games for the Royals this season, allowing 25 hits in 15 2-3 innings. He has a career record of 6-8 with a 5.65 ERA.
